Excavating a cool hole for the summer

Living in Andalucia as we do, during the summer you have to change your lifestyle around a little to cope with the couple of months when its real hot. We have very early walks, my Hu’mum does not like this so I become her alarm clock, between 5.45am and 6.15am I wonder in and wake her. Lay down to eat food.

Laying down to eat food helps save energy

But what to do when you get back from the walk and after a swim.  Most years I have dug a number of shallow holes around the garden, this year I went for a couple but 1 in particular I liked so much I kept working on it. You see the Hu’parents built the wood a shelter to protect the wood from the worst of the weather during the winter and I have turned this into my best hole. I have to share it with some left over wood but its good for chewing on. Its a great place to hang out, so if im not inside the house im in the wood shelter den.

Finding somewhere cool to lay inside the house

Below are some pictures for you to see how to excavate one for yourself.

Choose your area carefully, make sure you will be comfy and happy

This is one I was not happy with, the cat kept wanting to join me

Let the work begin

Try it out again for size

Excavate some more until you are 100% happy with it

Yep seems ok

Try a different position

Have a chew on a stick

Have a little rest

Nip in for a little icecream

Excavate some more to make sure you reach the really cool earth

Take another nap to ensure all is good this time

You too can reach this kind of happiness

Messing around on the sofa

Me and my anipals from twitter have been fed up with the hot weather in the various countrys we live in, so we organised for us all to do a “snow dance”. We hoped it would bring some snow! Well it didnt bring snow but it did bring us all some cooler weather and rain!!! How did we do it, well you just have to know how to “shake your booty”. The cooler weather did make us here in Lanjaron a little more active and more mischievous. You have seen what happened to the sofa recently and now our Hu’mum caught us on video having some fun on the sofa.

A song for our Hu’mum

Hu’mum went out to work and we were sad to see her go, so we had a sing song for her just after she left which our Hu’dad caught on video.

Can you tell whos voice is whos?

Ooops I did it again

Woooo well its a real hot one today 11am and its 36C already.

Anyway the hu’parents went shopping and whilst they were out shopping I could not resist a bit of redesigning of the sofa. Hope you like it, the hu’parents were oh so not happy. No pleasing some people.

Who’s that following me?

Our Twitter and blog friend Norwood does a blog every Sunday titled “Shadow Shot Sunday” he talks about this “shadow dude” who follows him around and takes photos of him to show us. Whilst out walking recently I too noticed I have this “shadow dude” following me, he sure gets around this chap. So I asked mum to take a photo to show you and show Norwood that this “shadow dude” made it to Spain. Does anyone else get this chap turning up?

Acequia’s on our walkies

Its been real hot over here recently and our walks are early in the morning now, usually before the sun gets up and over the mountain. We are tending to do the same walk most days, mainly because Hu’mum says there is water en-route from acequias. If you dont know what an acequia is, this should explain, leave that for the humans. We usually pass 3 that are running most days, well 3 that we can get in without disappearing down a shoot. After normal winters the acequias tend to run dry through July & August, but this year after all the rain/snow we had there is still plenty of snow melt making its way down the mountains.

And to finish a short little video of us playing in the acequia when the water was running quite fast. Dont you just love the sound of running water.

The pool turned muddy

My Humans decided to fill the swimming pool with water from the acequia (for anyone who dosnt know what an acequia is have a read of this). Good idea they thought as its free water, but the good idea was soon shot to pieces when the colour of the water was seen, errrr it can only be described as brown! The humans stopped filling the pool as soon as they realised. So we now have a muddy pool, which we doggies love, the sqiggy mud going through our toes is great. They say the reason the water is this colour is because of all the landslides that happened during the winter and a lot of the acequias were damaged.

The humans now have to work out how to clean the pool, but in the meantime, here is a video of me and Bruno in the pool. You will see that I was very nervous at first about going in as I could not see the bottom of the pool or the last step, but I soon got the hang of it. Oh and Hu’mum apologies about the video, she has no sound on her computer at the moment so cant hear whats happening on the video.

Stick your tongue out day

Apparently we doggies stick our tongue out when we are sleeping! Does anyone else do this? According to the Hu’parents Tapa does not!

Balloon fun

This is the first time we have met a balloon. It was great fun, but Bruno being so big got in the way of me playing with it, so I ended up just chasing Bruno. Bruno got the hang of playing with the balloons, we only had 2 and I burst them very quickly. Hu’Mum says she will get us some more balloons when she finds them.
